ONE RACE DIVIDED

                           We aren't ONE but DIVIDED

                                                        One race collide

seeing the world through rose colored lenses can be interpreted in a number of ways, when you put on your pair of glasses you could be seeing far differently from what i'm seeing. South Africa has a known culture that we are a 'one' rainbow nation, but also famous for their vicious hatred against foreigners, according to social network comments most South Africans believe that foreigners reside in SA only to steal their jobs, well-being opportunities and chance at a better life.

I'm sitting at my office desk, next to me is my colleague Patrick, who is also a foreigner from Zimbabwe who has the same skin color as an ordinary South-African man, same problems and same issues but even more over because of the nasty looks and comments they get on the streets. what really baffles me is the treatment that one black person can give to another without even thinking twice about what he/ she is going through or to even find out what the reason behind them residing in SA.

South Africans need to think back at Apartheid times and remember how it felt like when the guns when pointing at them and maybe reconsider their actions towards foreigners.

E-toll the greed

                             Tailor made by greed

Here I go again, raising another debated issue that has all South African motorists enraged especially those in Gauteng where a decision was made for us by authority and its structure. This is another disabled reputation from the government, because not only did the public dispute to the installation of e-tolls, but we are faced with all these money making structures, as if the toll gates aren't enough

How many of you are trying to find alternative routes that don’t lead you into passing the e-tolls roads? My mom tries that all the time lol, but it’s really hard because the main highways are hard not to end up on. As a SA citizen myself I agree that we basically pay for breathing in this country. Social media platforms are imprinted with people’s rage about having to pay for the e-tolls, thus creating communities that support all protests against the e-toll. It’s amazing how social media channels allow us to connect with people that have a mutual understanding with our own. When I look at the socio-impact of e-tolls it is visible that the public have the power to decide whether they want to go on with it or have it dismantled.

Lack of transparency has been the trademark of this e-toll  project. I mean even before it initiated  questions directed to SANRAL about why a foreign company was used and many more were left unanswered, their lack of honesty and trustworthiness raises concerns because there needs to be transparency between Government and citizens especially when the matter consists of capital .

I support the efforts of discontinuing the e-tolls and they stretch as far as Cosatu's strikes and drive slow campaigns on the busiest highways such as the M1, M2, N1 and the N12, expected to grab the Government’s attention on how the public feels about the project. I even witnessed a group of citizens on the N12 highway that held up a huge banner that read “Hoot to no e-tolls”

We all know the PR stunts and encouragements of ‘building a better SA’ via e-tolls from Dipuo Peters, Minister of transport have failed flat only because this issue was handled poorly from the beginning. I think that the decision of erecting e-tolls disrespects road users and doesn't take into consideration the financial aspects of motorists. My question is how better could this situation been handled, and you think people will eventually accept the fact that they need to pay for the e-tolls to raise funds for the road infrastructure?

Double amputeed reputation

'When it all comes tumbling down'

I’m so over whelmed by the excitement of blogging, I don’t even know where to start, yes it’s my first time and I've been stumbling back and forth like any other inexpert would. The topic I’m about to talk about here today is rather controversial and sure it will raise a lot of opinions.

It’s the 18th month since the renowned athletic amputee has murdered his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, and everyone is still talking about it, but my ultimate question; is if Oscar Pistorius will ever regain his reputation after his murder case has become a world-wide statistic of world icons that have sparked the media with a negative story. In my opinion Oscar Pistorius has tarnished his career and mostly especially his image, I mean, youngsters that looked up to him as an icon and whole public no longer see him as they did before since the murder, could the media have had an influence in this negative attitude? I feel that it was such a good thing that the South African law legalized people to share comments and feelings about the Oscar trial on social media platforms such as twitter and Facebook.

Isn't it obvious that all brands would never want to associate themselves with a name that would dare to damage or threaten their own image and reputation? Likewise all brands and sponsorship's initiated pulling off Oscar as their brand ambassador, including Nike of course, I would too. I think we all know by now how bad publicity travels faster than good, especially with citizen journalists that distribute news even before we hear it from the paper or television the following day.

Efforts of PR in the beginning was Vuma Reputation, a South African PR firm http://goo.gl/ITY0G5 which released Oscars word for word seven page affidavit document of his version of how Reeva came to die, did they maybe think that this document would in any way rebuild his reputation, or change the minds of those who believed that he’s undoubtedly guilty of the murder? from where I’m standing I don’t think any PR firm can be able to rebuild Oscars reputation regardless of his bail or even if he may be found ‘not guilty’ which Vuma Reputation later realized as they no longer represent him now http://goo.gl/bm602D.
The sad reality is that in the mention of ‘Oscar Pistorius’ instant words like ‘Murderer, killer, shooter’ are associated with him, it’s shocking how this one incidence has wiped out the fact that Oscar Pistorius was once a multiple Gold medal winner at Paralympic games and summer Olympics 2012 and  how he once made history by competing with able athletes.

This has been a topic that has had the whole town buzzing since this year and bzzzzz CONTINUES…
